Go-Karting in Tokyo by Day or at Night

Tokyo go-kart tours by day or after dark: the start times we read, what the evening starts cost, Tokyo's sunset month by month, and what night riders said.

Updated November 2026

Tokyo’s kart tours run from the morning into the evening, and from November to March an evening start is a ride in the dark: Tokyo’s sunset on 15 December 2026 is at 16:29 (National Astronomical Observatory of Japan). For the night ride, BC support Co.,Ltd.’s Shinjuku and Shibuya tour has an evening option titled 6:00, 7:30 and 9:00 PM, whose date picker showed the 6:00 PM start on every date we read, at US$85.18 a person; for the lowest price, its 12:00 and 1:30 PM starts were US$56.79 on the same dates (27 November and 10 December 2026, 20 January and 17 February 2027).

So a 6:00 PM start is after sunset from autumn to early spring, and in daylight from about May to August. A 7:30 PM start is after sunset all year.

The start times we read

  • BC support Co.,Ltd., Shinjuku and Shibuya. Three options on every date we read: 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM at US$56.79; 10:30 AM, 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM at US$85.18 (its picker showed 10:30 AM on every date we read, and 3:00 PM on 27 November); and the evening option, titled 6:00, 7:30 and 9:00 PM, also US$85.18 (its picker showed 6:00 PM on every date we read). In December the 4:00 PM start ends after sunset.
  • Street Kart, Shibuya. Starts ran from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM for two adults on 10 December 2026; on 27 November 2026 only a 10:00 AM start was on sale. Its Tokyo Bay shop lists starts at 10 AM, 1 PM, 4 PM and 7 PM (Street Kart, checked November 2026).
  • Kartzilla. Its home page lists a “Shibuya Night Premium” tour at JPY 24,000 (Kartzilla, checked November 2026).
  • Monkey Adventure Kart. Its tour from Shibuya Crossing to Shinjuku is sold for the day or the evening.

Each listing’s calendar has the starts for your date; the ones above were on sale when we read them, and they are not a timetable.

What night riders say

Illustration. An evening start: the same streets after dark.

In the 350 most recent reviews of BC support Co.,Ltd.’s tour that we read in November 2026, the oldest from 8 July, several riders write about the night. “We did the 9pm drive to see Tokyo in all it’s nighttime glory,” wrote one rider in October 2026. “Book early and get the night time spot as that would be an even better experience,” wrote another in September. A rider whose evening slot was cancelled for weather and who went the next morning wrote that they “would have preferred the evening to have seen the lights”.

Not every night review was happy. A three-star review from October 2026 enjoyed “all the neon signs” but found the karts worn, with a turn signal that had to be pulled to work, and said the karts of other companies seen on the road had more lights.

Check the evening starts

The case for daytime

  • Price. On BC support Co.,Ltd.’s tour the midday starts cost about a third less than the evening ones on every date we read.
  • Seeing the sights. Tokyo Tower, Rainbow Bridge and the Imperial Palace grounds are easier to see in daylight; Shibuya and Shinjuku are the districts that come alive after dark.
  • Summer heat. A rider in August 2026 rode without a costume and was glad of it “as it was boiling”, and another chose a light one for the heat. A late-afternoon start in summer runs into the cooler evening while it is still light.

Rain

Rain does not stop most tours. Street Kart’s Shibuya and Tokyo Bay listings include a raincoat; Akiba Kart Shibuya cancels in heavy rain and lets you rebook free; on Monkey Adventure Kart’s tours, contact the shop if heavy rain is forecast. If the forecast is bad for your whole stay, City Circuit Tokyo Bay stays open in the rain.

Every tour by area lists the routes; the licence and IDP guide covers what you must bring, day or night.
